Week One..... Done!

So it was weigh in day, I lost a pound.... Yes one lowly pound! However as the lady next to me pointed out, how much would I have weighed if I hadn't come? I contemplated this... And decided probably two or three pounds heavier.
All in all an OK start, a couple of recipes I've enjoyed; bacon and pea pasta and weekend brunch.  A point to move forward from and I will post recipes.

How did I let it happen?

So tonight was weigh in.... 21 Stone 2.5 lbs.  I can't believe I've actually let myself get this big.  The thought of having to lose 11 and half stone is frightening so I'm thinking it of it as 1 stone chunks...  much more palatable.  So I've made my noodle stir fry for tomorrow, the porridge is on standby and a punnet of plums.... Oh and my neighbour just polished off the ginger nuts so can't be bad!

Diet - restricting oneself... Oh dear I see a problem already!

So, I've been on a diet for as long as I can remember... A ten year old not being able to go to friend's houses' for dinner as there was a chicken salad waiting for me in the fridge at home, A 17 year old dieting for Prom, a 21 year old wanting to look good in graduation photos and now, about to hit 30 and needing to finally shed those unnecessary and unwanted pounds.
My Grandma has kindly offered her support both financially and emotionally on my weight loss journey.  So tomorrow in 'weigh in day', not a day I enjoy having tried more diets than I can remember! The Oxford Dictionary defines a diet as 'restricting oneself to small amounts or special kinds of food in order to lose weight'.  Now I love my food; cooking it and eating it, so the thought of 'restricting' myself to small amount of food doesn't exactly fill me with joy! tomorrow as a new beginning, not a diet as I have been told but a lifestyle change - a change for the rest of my life.
Here I will write about my route to a healthier, happier slimmer life documenting the ups and no doubt downs of how it is all going as a commitment to my desire to lose weight.
